Year in Review :: 2012

I am a little late with Year in Review post given that we are already at the beginning of 2013, but I wanted the holidays to pass before sharing such a big blog post.:)2012 was an incredible year for us! Not only did we photograph so many gorgeous weddings and engagement sessions, but we had a chance to catch up with couples from years past and celebrate new babies and great family milestones with them. And the best part of it all, the new studio! But enough talk, let’s look back at 2012 through a few of the images we captured. These are almost all the weddings and engagement sessions photographed, apart from a few we were asked to keep private. For most I chose one image that I loved most from the day… for others, I couldn’t choose just one and chose two. It’s not because I felt there were more amazing images to choose from, just a moment of indecision on my part. Because I love so many… Always love too many.:)Makes blogging a tough job. But here we go!

The year started with a few gorgeous winter engagement sessions!

Our first 2012 wedding was Ashley and Bob’s at The Westin Lombard.

Such a fun wedding and such an amazing couple to work with! We also photographed their engagement session and day after session.

March was a busy month for us! Five weddings! Next up are Brittany & Chad – their fun St. Patrick’s Day wedding was celebrated at Venuti’s. Loved the venue! Seriously amazing Italian food, and so nice with the vendors!!! Thank you, Venuti’s!

Heather & David’s wedding was just weeks away, but we snuck out for a few engagement pictures anyway. The weather in March was too good not to take advantage of.

Nellie & Shane’s wedding was held at the Oak Brook Marriot Resort. First wedding we photographed at this venue and also a great experience. The grounds are pretty and the tent is gorgeous! Beautiful lighting throughout.

Ella & Dima’s wedding was a feast for the eyes and tummy!:)Their wedding venue was La Mirage. But we took pictures before the ceremony all over downtown Chicago!

The last couple to marry in March –  Heather & David. You may remember this wedding from Style Me Pretty. What an incredibly beautiful wedding it was! They were married at Kitchen Chicago.

Spring made an early debut in Chicago last year! And in Boston too! Our first April wedding was photographed in Boston. And published in The South Asian Bride Magazine!

We also photographed a really fun 80′s Flashback Styled Session that was published on Ruffled and created by one of our favorite planners, Tiffany Munster of Soiree Weddings & Events.

Christine & Mike’s wedding came the following weekend. Ceremony and reception at the ever so gorgeous Germania Place. Best venue in the city to photograph the reception from above! Such an amazing vantage point.

We closed April with a beautiful wedding in the suburbs! Rebecca & Kellen were married in Batavia. Such a gem for unique photo locations. Just look at this gorgeous old train station!

But we cannot start May without sharing a gorgeous sprint engagement session photo! Betsy & Gareth, I <3 you!:)

First wedding in May – Patty & Eddie! They were married the day of the Nato Summit! Another one of my favorite venues in the city – Carnivale.

Melissa & Sebastian were married Memorial Day weekend at The Chicago History Museum. And this fun shot is now a canvas in my studio!

June was crazy to say the least! Such an amazing way to kick off the summer – nine weddings! Our first couple, the fun and artsy Danielle & John! So, so creative! They had famous paintings and images recreated to feature them as a couple instead of the original characters and they displayed them alongside gallery paintings of the hotel’s! Needless to say the guests were completely mesmerized! Their wedding took place at the equally artsy InterContinental Chicago O’Hare Hotel.

The second wedding of the month was celebrated at Willow Harbor Vineyard in Michigan.

Jenny & Kyle were married at the Arrowhead Golf Club in Wheaton. Gorgeous venue inside and out. Perfect for an outdoors summer ceremony!

Meson Sabika is another favorite of mine for many, many reasons! Beautiful venue, great food, a separate wind for weddings. Abbey & Jeff were married there on June 15th.

Now, we all know my love affair with this timeless downtown Chicago wedding venue – The Murphy Auditorium! Love it!!!! Lisa and Michael were married there!

June 23rd was the most popular wedding date of 2012! Diana & Dan were married at Old Orchard Midori Golf Club in Mount Prospect. Another great suburban venue. Beautiful grounds and delicious food!

Sunday, the same weekend we got a chance to photograph a very unique and intimate wedding at The Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago. This beauty was planned by one of our favorite Chicago wedding coordinators – Mandy Borvan of Mandy Borvan Event Design.

We ended the month on a high note! A stunning couple – Jen & Jason, a great wedding planner – Shannon Gail, and an exquisite venue – Intercontinental Chicago Magnificent Mile.

Here comes July! Judith and Jai were married downtown and celebrate at Chateau Ritz in Niles!

Alex & Jennifer’s beautiful downtown wedding was held at the historic Renaissance Blackstone Hotel. You may also remember this wedding from Style Me Pretty as well.:)

The following weekend was a popular one as well! Konstantin photographed Jeff & Kristine’s wedding at the Morton Arboretum.

I photographed Jenny & David’s wedding at The Woman’s Club of Evanston the very same day. Another Style Me Pretty feature.

The following weekend we photographed another beautiful wedding in Lake Geneva.

July ended with Maureen & Greg’s wedding at the Harrington Inn in Geneva.

A fun Drury Lane wedding was just the right way to start the month of August!

The first of two Monday weddings we photographed this year was a super fun Pirate Wedding on a ship at Navy Pier.

Megan & Ryan’s wedding was held at another of my favorite wedding venues in the north suburbs – The Armor House at The Lake Forrest Academy.

Betsy & Gareth’s wedding was the following weekend – Salvatore’s in Lincoln Park was their cozy wedding venue.

Emily & Wayne’s wedding celebration took place at ever so gorgeous Drake Hotel. Another personal favorite. And another exquisitely planned wedding by Shannon Gail Weddings & Events.

Before we get to our September weddings, there are a few summer engagement sessions that we cannot miss!

This adorable “save the date” was photographed by Julie!

This gorgeous sunset engagement session was photographed by Konstantin.

September started with Ashley & Craig’s wedding at Salvatore’s in Lincoln Park.

Madeline & Mitch’s wedding took place and Lehmann Mansion and it was a blast!

The last weekend in September was another crazy busy wedding weekend for us – three in a row! First up are Kelly & Drew. Their wedding took place at Sepia. And we had the honor of working with Estera Events for the first time. Hilary and Bianca make a perfect team!

On Sunday, we photographed another beautiful wedding at Salvage One – one of the most popular wedding venues in the city!

Monday was magical. A rare stormy day in Ft. Lauderdale, but we made the best of it!:)

September was a busy month for engagement sessions as well!

Lots of fall engagement sessions in October too!

Our first October wedding was at Room 1520. A gorgeous celebration planned by Tiffany Munster of Soiree Weddings & Events.

Kristen & David were married at Pazzo’s. Such a beautiful October day for pictures!

Rosa & Andy’s wedding was celebrated at Independence Grove in Libertyville. A beautiful venue inside and out!

Erin & Peter’s wedding was our first at the Metropolitan Club and it was amazing to say the least! Also a first – working with the incredible team at Just Say Yes Events!

And what better way to end the 2012 wedding season than with another destination wedding? Lindsay & Henry were married at The Starved Rock National Park!

I hope you enjoyed looking back on 2012 with us! We were blessed with such amazing clients and such gorgeous weddings! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your celebration! We had a blast!

XOXO, Cristina, Julie & Konstantin.

What a wonderful collection of so many happy moments!! Countless beautiful pictures! I have to admit that 2 pictures really captured my heart. The first one is the black & white of the bride & groom in front of the lighted “Chicago” sign. Love her stunning gown, the glow around their faces, his glasses, the details on the door & greenery…looks like a loving personal moment. My other favorite is of the 2 men with the pumpkins. I love the man on the left laughing and pointing to his fiance…anyone can see they have a fun life together. I can simply feel the joy! Cristina, congrats to you and your team for the ground-breaking year(opening your new loft)! :)

What an amazing year you had and what an amazing body of work you’ve accomplished this year. Although I look at all your pictures as you blog them, I saw pictures today that I don’t remember seeing before, and they delighted me. Thanks for letting us be a part of your life and your work.
